corruption is dead
You back-stabbing, sleazy fraudster;
Your temperament is tainted, and non
Wants to be publicly associated with you,
Yet, your features are embossed on souls;
Strange, you imprison a nation and a continent.
You have not an ounce of honour, nor dignity;
A blood vow to usurp sincerity and wisdom,
Your siblings’ are greed and gluttony,
Acquaintances with misdeeds and negligence,
You perpetrate greed and egoism in men.
Pranks and a hoax you played on my people.
How did you achieve such a dramatic feat?
You bait my people with mirages of wealth;
Entangling an endowed continent in your web,
Hunger, sickness, famine, poverty and death –
You unleashed. You have humiliated justice
And freedom has lost its footing on solid ground.
How proud and boastful you have become;
You have given power to fools and sycophants,
Wise and frank men have to bow before them.
You even control the hearts of those who speak,
Against you, and royalty squirms in our presence,
Your snickering angers me.
You have caused men to isolate honesty,
Humiliated and crippled, she is mocked.
A trap for candour, have you laid in his misery,
Hoping to cower him into submission,
But the thread of light at the end of the tunnel,
Is hope for sincerity and faithfulness to sprout.
Like Romulus and Remus, I’m distinguished;
Genuineness was my nurse and confidant,
Truth taught me oratory skills and guts,
Boldness helped me take my first steps,
And Integrity has being my best pal.
Now I’m all grown up and I’ll crush you.
I plucked the first fruits of faithfulness;
Inspiring candour to rise from his misery,
Virtue is in the pink, smiling with a grin,
And values, is visiting homes evangelising
A formless campaign strategy to box you in,
The message – let us eradicate corruption.
Your tricks laid to bare, disgrace is snarling,
And humiliation has shown it true character,
Corrupt men have regrets written on their faces
They hate themselves for buying your lies,
Their hearts and souls, have we won back;
A changed people, an enhanced perspective
They understand the harm they caused others;
Pardon us, forgive our injury, they pleaded,
And the aroma of forgiveness filled the air.
They are giving back to society what they stole,
A hundredfold, a thousandfold and more,
They are conscious of their actions now.
Come, let us rejoice; for corruption is dead;
And prosperity, has returned to our homes again
Our ancestors twitch no longer in their graves;
The distorter, of our adult and youth is no more.
Her reign has been toppled; her ashes scattered,
A new queen, Integrity, rules our hearts and mind.

a tribute
The spirals of September carried our son,
To the edge of life, beyond our reach,
Where fate resides; in his arms luxuriating.
A deep chilling silence has engulfed us,
And sorrow hath clenched our hearts,
A bleeding why? We howl and scream.
A greater son, the motherland has lost,
His fall, a thud louder than the oak tree,
Trembled and humbled the nation.
He’s no more, our son, brother and father,
Fallen and cold, a nation laments,
A statesman chaste, a finest man.
Amongst wise and bold, his name writes,
In golden letters, his deeds glitters bright,
A selfless service, he journeyed in life.
Our country and God, he served wholly,
Dirges, the drums beat, bellowing sadness,
That hath frozen our hearts and limbs.
Wreaths we arrange instead of bouquets,
With heads bowed and arms folded,
We wail, ‘cause our eyes froth with tears.
‘Ewurade nfa wo nsie yie’, a prayer implore,
Amidst our sorrowful sobs and sniffles,

right or left???
Nah, lamented the others,
They’re wrong, our path is better;
Bickering, the activity they performed.
Each, trying to persuade the public.
Fingers pointed; accusingly at others;
Persistently, they radiate their words,
As projects, flowering handsomely.
Hear them, hear us, verbose oratory,
Like us, they once were.
In ostentatious places, they dine now.
A vow, they have taken, to lead us:
To serve us, they claim is their delight.
The pledge, a better tomorrow.
As ironic as impotency and cocky as diabolism,
Does any of them know that we're dying?
Where to? We don’t know
How can they? Then:
Relentless visions and dreams,
Manifestos echoing reverberatingly,
Tirelessly, like clang in our ears.
Incomprehensible and animated;
They have confused and divided us,
Only then can they rule.
Hope, tis you we long for:
They lure us with your image;
Blurred and at a cost.
Of freedom, and of rights,
Hostilities and lies, acrimonious sown:
Greed slaver their tongues,
Different names, they call themselves;
Their objective, singular – milk us dry.
Slogans of unity, they campaign with
Why not a united front?
For country and for people?
Fear people who don't get along,
They have further sub-divided themselves.
The Centre, the Far Left, the New Right,
Left of Right, Right of Centre and more.
When are we going to learn?
Politicians, they call themselves,
What a profession; politics.
Tricksters, hypocrites and sycophants, they are
‘Trihypophants’ we should call them.
Their minds intoxicated with power;
To boast their ego and obscure their weakness,
They seek only, their interests.
Otherwise, why manipulatively confuse us.
We have to dig deep into ourselves
Tis courage we need.
Let us learn from the ants;
The book of Proverbs espouses us.
They don't have rulers,
And we are brainy then them.
What legacy are we leaving our children?
The ones we say we love.
Collectively, we are the new force,
Our concerns, our priority;
As one, we create a synergy,
Of talents, beauty and strength.
A harvest, will our economy be:
Our land will become rich and powerful,
A wealth nation, an affluent system,
Our legacy to our children.
